Class 20 & Class 37 DCC Sound.
As I mentioned before, we have had the sound decoders in our Class 20 and Class 37 locos reblown by Howes and, as they came back to us on Friday, we just had to try them out. Personally I think they sound whoe heaps better than the factory-installed sounds but take a listen for yourself and see what you think. This time we sent them off to areas of the layout not seen on video before as they perform some freight duties. Meanwhile, the new section of the layout remains out of bounds to trains as we are doing major construction work here as well as track painting and ballasting. Next time we hope to have videos of a reblown Class 47 plus Bachmann's new Deltic, St Paddy, which is currently having a new and better speaker fitted. We will then test it, to see how this improves Bachmann's sound, before deciding whether to have it reblown it or not. Future sound locos in the pipeline include a third Class 50, a Bachmann Class 108, a Class 17 (if and when Heljan get round to replacing the faulty motor) and a Class 33. Yes, wrong region, I know, but I just love the old Cromptons and simply have to have one on the layout. Maybe it can be hauling a special!!! Stay tuned as they say!
