epaper.tribune.com.pk Visit of Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, Member Commission regarding Underground Coal Gasification of Pakistani Lignite at FRC-PCSIR Dr. Samar Mubarakmand a renowned nuclear scientist and Member (S&T), Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan along with Mr. Abdur Rehman, Chief (S&T), Planning Commission, Islamabad, Government of Pakistan visited Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR on March 12, 2011. Dr. Shoukat Parvez Chairman, PCSIR along with Mr. Gulzar Hussain Jhatial Director FRC welcomed the team. The team visit of laboratory scale plant for Underground gasification of Coal (UCG) in the premises of Fuel Research Centre and showed his keen interest in the operation of UCG plant. The Member (S&T), Planning Commission discussed the functional layout of UCG plant with Dr. Shoukat Parvez Chairman, PCSIR and Mr. Gulzar Hussain Jhatial.During visit Mr. Santosh Kumar SSO, FRC have explained the construction of coal bed and the operational conditions of the UCG plant. Dr. Samar Mubarakmand along with other scientists also examined gas flame and the power generation obtained from Syngas by the underground gasification of Pakistani lignite in FRC.A detailed discussion session was held after the visit in the conference room of Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR. Mr. Santosh Kumar presented the overview of the progress of UCG performed in Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR.
